Launch of the "William Fraser"
The “William Fraser” was launched on July 3rd 2019 in Miri, eastern Malaysia. The newest addition to the MBL fleet was designed and built by the Ling Family, owners of the Berjaya Shipping Yard.
Measuring 68m x 16m witha DWT of 2500 T, sheis primarily designed to extract sand and carry aggregates and project cargo.
She was constructed to Bureau Veritas standards, and will be surveyed to make international voyages.
The dredge gear was designed in the Netherlands by Holland Dredge Design. The state of the art, minimal environmental impact dredging gear includes “green valves” to minimise sediment suspension, and an electric driven sand pump.
She is also powered by environmentally friendly low emission engines.
The vessel was named after one of the original McCallum Brothers, William Fraser McCallum and his son of the same name.
She is expected to sail to NZ in September, a trip of about 3 weeks, and start work soon after.”
