Transport to Slipper Island

The Kapua is a self-propelled, fully crewed 44m by 12m landing craft vessel with the carrying capacity of 600 tonnes. With minimal draft, the Kapua is able to access shallow and tight locations. The Kapua serves as a bulk transport barge and has roll-on, roll-off capacity for ease when loading and unloading equipment, machinery, logs, aggregate, and other goods.

Contracts for general cargo include carting logs from Great Barrier Island to Marsden Point, transferring silo tanks from Whangerai to Tauranga and aggregate cartage for Waiheke Island. The Kapua has successfully been used as an operations base and support vessel for contracts such as the Rena disaster in Tauranga and as a surveying vessel.
